Job summary

Gaylord Hotels in Grapevine, Texas, is seeking a Management-level professional to assist in planning and executing meetings and special events. You will help implement departmental strategies and ensure seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales where appropriate.

You will lead a team to meet daily/weekly goals, promote client satisfaction, and uphold safety and service standards while working closely with sales and operations to exceed targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2 years experience in hospitality, event management, food & beverage, sales & marketing, or related professional area.
• Or 2-year degree from an accredited university in hospitality, or related major; 1 year experience in hospitality, event management, food & beverage, sales & marketing, or a comparable professional area.
• Experience planning and executing meetings and special events preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the team to meet and exceed daily/weekly goals including sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, safety, etc.
• Researches and analyzes new products, pricing and services of competition.
• Assists in apprising property of all groups that will impact property operations.
• Executes event management strategy aligned with business goals.
• Conducts daily walk-through of banquet floor to promote client satisfaction and quality standards.
• Learns, operates and trains staff on event software (ticketing, retail, inventory, space usage).

Assisting in Managing Meetings and Special Events Operations and Budgets

• Leads the team to meet and exceed dail/weekly goals including, but not limited to, sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, safety, etc.

Managing Profitability

• Assists in developing working relationships with outside vendors and establishing prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and to increase additional revenue opportunities for the property as needed.
• Creates opportunities to upsell during event planning.
• Assists in managing department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Manages merchandise inventory as needed, enhancing merchandise displays to increase sales.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

• Creates an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
• Sets a positive example for guest relations.
• Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
• Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
• Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
• Verifies employees understand expectations and parameters.
• Strives to improve service performance.
• Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Interviews, selects and trains employees.
• Appraises employee’s productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status.
• Provides for the safety and security of the employees or the property.
• Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.
• Helps direct supervisors to achieve their own development goals.
• Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
