West Point Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to support the athletics program at West Point Middle/High School. The role involves assisting the head coach with athlete participation, supervision of activities, and maintaining sportsmanship and discipline.

Responsibilities include organizing practices, coordinating home events, and ensuring compliance with WPPS policies. The position requires teaching certification, NFHS/CPR First Aid certifications, and knowledge of VHSL

• Valid teaching certificate or prior coaching experience.
• NFHS Certification
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Strong working knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations

Responsabilidades

• Works with the head coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practices to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Read and follow WPPS Athletic Handbook procedures.
• Supervise all athletes in program when directed by the head coach.
• Assist Head Coach for special needs, e.g., awards night, parent meetings.
• Make suggestions to improve the program.
• Apply and enforce student discipline during contests, and encourage sportsmanship.
• Attend pre-season organizational meetings.
• Participate in professional development and stay current with coaching strategies.
• Assist in organization and execution of home events, including postseason events.
• Be familiar with and adhere to school board policies.
• Assist in enforcing the athletic code of conduct.
• Be prepared to serve as head coach in the absence of the head coach.
• Promote the athletic program within the school and the community.
• Assist with field maintenance before, during, and after practices and games.
• Help with inventory and storage of all equipment during and after the season.
