Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking an Assistant Site Supervisor – ELOP in Oceanside, CA to support the Site Supervisor with program management, safety, and youth development activities. You will help lead staff, supervise participants, and ensure high-quality academic enrichment in collaboration with school partners.

Responsibilities include planning, attendance administration, and maintaining a safe, organized space while mentoring youth and supporting staff training.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience in child and youth development or a similar setting.
  • Meet district qualifications for Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide (AA/AS or 48 college units or exam).
  • Clear DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance prior to work.
  • TB test clearance within 60 days before employment.
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention training before working with participants.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid training (adult and child/infant) within 30 days of hire; from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute.

  • Assist in the planning, management, and implementation of program activities in accordance with the goals and policies of the ELOP/DASH grant, school district, collaborative partners, and the YMCA of San Diego County.
  • Supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times
  • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students
  • Serve as lead staff of the DASH Program in the absence of the Site Supervisor
  • Actively recruit students and market expanded learning activities to ensure program capacity
  • Collaborate with school and district personnel to align high quality academic activities and to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Assist with the on-site management of attendance data and procedures, program documents, student files, and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Perform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safe
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
  • Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities
  • Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles

Overview

Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Site Supervisor – ELOP is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor with the overall program management, participant supervision, program planning, and implementation of academic enrichment activities. The Assistant Site Supervisor will help manage safe, accurate, and efficient participant sign in/out procedures, and provide coaching and support for Youth Leader staff members. The Assistant Site Supervisor position requires high energy, dedication, patience, good communication skills, and a strong desire to mentor youth, strengthen families, and serve the community.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED
  • One year experience in child and youth development, education, or comparable setting required
  • Must meet minimum qualifications for a highly qualified Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide in the district in which the assigned school operates; AA/AS degree, 48 college units or passing score on district’s Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide proficiency exam acceptable
  • Fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI required prior to working.
  • TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment or prior to working on a school site
  • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range
