Job summary

YMCA in Oceanside, CA is seeking an Assistant Site Supervisor – ELOP to support the Site Supervisor with program management and youth development. You will help supervise participants, coach Youth Leader staff, and assist with sign-in/out procedures, while promoting safety and positive behavior.

The role requires high energy, patience, and a strong desire to mentor youth, strengthen families, and serve the community. Schedule is Monday through Friday on-site.

Qualifications

  • Requires a HS diploma or GED; plus one year of youth development experience.
  • AA/AS degree or 48 college units; or passing district proficiency exam for instructional aide.
  • Fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI before work.
  • TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, management and implementation of program activities per grant, district and partner goals.
  • Supervise participants and ensure safety at all times.
  • Provide positive behavior guidance supporting developmental and social-emotional needs.
  • Lead DASH Program in Site Supervisor's absence.
  • Recruit students and market activities to maximize program capacity.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to align high-quality activities and maintain positive relationships.
  • Assist with attendance data and program documents, student files, and admin duties.
  • Maintain safe, organized, and clean spaces; respond to incidents as needed.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Site Supervisor – ELOP is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor with the overall program management, participant supervision, program planning, and implementation of academic enrichment activities. The Assistant Site Supervisor will help manage safe, accurate, and efficient participant sign in/out procedures, and provide coaching and support for Youth Leader staff members. The Assistant Site Supervisor position requires high energy, dedication, patience, good communication skills, and a strong desire to mentor youth, strengthen families, and serve the community.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, management, and implementation of program activities in accordance with the goals and policies of the ELOP/DASH grant, school district, collaborative partners, and the YMCA of San Diego County
  • Supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times
  • Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students
  • Serve as lead staff of the DASH Program in the absence of the Site Supervisor
  • Actively recruit students and market expanded learning activities to ensure program capacity
  • Collaborate with school and district personnel to align high quality academic activities and to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Assist with the on-site management of attendance data and procedures, program documents, student files, and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Perform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safe
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation
  • Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities
  • Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED
  • One year experience in child and youth development, education, or comparable setting required
  • Must meet minimum qualifications for a highly qualified Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide in the district in which the assigned school operates; AA/AS degree, 48 college units or passing score on district’s Classroom Assistant/Instructional Aide proficiency exam acceptable
  • Fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI required prior to working.
  • TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment or prior to working on a school site
  • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $21.00 - USD $23.63 /Hr.
