Overview
Under general direction, supervises staff performing Material Handling / Distribution contracted activities at client accounts. Delegates assignments to staff and monitors progress.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Distribution/Logistics/Material Handling Department.
- Maintains daily communication with Sr. Material Handling/Distribution Manager and Area Manager.
- Keeps management informed of operational issues.
- Works with management to evaluate, research, and recommend solutions to Distribution management.
- Contacts and negotiates with outside vendors.
- Provides quality control on daily paperwork performed by OBS Staff.
- Delegates assignments to staff and monitors progress.
- Prioritizes, schedules, and delegates assignments to staff, ensuring standards are met.
- Ensures quality and productivity standards are maintained.
- Ensures proper maintenance and usage of all equipment and supplies.
- Interfaces with clients, operations teams, and corporate departments as needed.
- Initiates communication and problem-solving regarding customer concerns.
- Assists the Manager with HR policies, including performance evaluations, employee training, development, and motivation.
- Assists in recruiting new employees.
- Compiles weekly and monthly statistical data for reporting.
- Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
- Assists with staff payroll, site billing, and service improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing a staff of more than 10 non-exempt employees is a plus.
- Experience motivating, training, coaching, and supervising staff to meet standards.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications (Lawson, Microsoft Office).
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with good time management skills.
- Excellent customer service, professional attitude, and appearance.
- Strong organizational, administrative, record-keeping, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Physical activity including bending, reaching, lifting, and prolonged sitting or standing.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
