The Assistant Shipping Supervisor coordinates the efforts of a labor force of approximately 10 employees to perform shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution duties. Departmental safety, productivity, and quality are key drivers of performance.

This position will require the employee to work overtime as needed. Overtime is scheduled based upon individual job responsibilities and the needs of the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Issues job assignments to ensure orders are picked up and loaded according to schedule.
  • Evaluates and determines course of action on loading, receiving, and storage problems.
  • Develop solutions to achieve departmental goals.
  • Covers alternate shifts as needed.
  • Completes required paperwork.
  • Preparing for upcoming work assignments and/or projects.
  • Coordinate repairs of material handling equipment needs within the facility.
  • Monitors department safety and procedures, ensuring all employees are trained accordingly.
  • Address performance and personnel issues as necessary.
  • Works with the department supervisor in developing solutions.
  • Support P3 operations as necessary, meeting expected time constraints.
  • Act as WISE WMS system resource for all HQ activities.
  • Supports corporate and production departments as needed on special projects and tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry and warehouse operations, and how it affects the company.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and be able to handle confrontational situations professionally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish; Bilingual Spanish is mandatory.
  • Must have basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office programs and internet).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Highly organized, methodical, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
  • Utilize leadership and teambuilding skills for employee growth and retention.
  • Must lead by example, morally and ethically.
  • WMS and/or Manufacturing QAD experience is a plus.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

The minimum compensation for theAssistant Shipping Supervisoris $26.26 per hour. The actual compensation to be paid will be determined upon an offer. Compensation is determined by a candidate’s experience, education, skills, training, and the internal equity within our organization. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Follow applicable procedures and work instructions.
