Qualifications

• Basic to intermediate hand sewing and machine sewing skills.

• Previous teaching, assisting, or studio experience a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Instructor in sewing classes for both kids and adults, using Bloomfield's established lesson plans.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all lesson plans so you're able to confidently support students.
• Work hand-in-hand with the Lead Instructor, following their guidance on classroom management.
• Help set new students up for success — teaching foundational hand-sewing skills and classroom safety.
• Guide students through the foundations of sewing.
• Foster a positive, encouraging environment for every student.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and class updates.
• Keep the sewing room clean, organized, and safe for everyone.
• Collaborate closely with other team members to ensure smooth class operations.
• Help prepare students for the studio's Triannual Showcase, supporting skill-building throughout the session toward their showcase piece.
