Job summary

Penske Buick GMC of Cerritos is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to act as a front-line liaison between customers and technicians. You will help guests with vehicle care, write repair orders, and guide the service process from intake to completion.

The role is 100% on-site, with opportunities to promote service sales, ensure accurate billing, and stay informed about shop workload and new products. Strong customer service and automotive knowledge are essential.

Job description

Summary:

The Assistant Service Manager is a front-line associate who is a liaison between the customer and the technician. They assist the customer with taking care of their vehicle, writing the repair order, facilitating the servicing and walking the customer's vehicle through the entire service process.

Position is 100% on-site.

Essential Duties include the following; however, other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

• Spends a minimum of 60% of daily work activities communicating information to guests on maintenance and repair needs that are identified and writing repair orders for services.
• Promotes service sales through communication of information to guests on maintenance and repair needs that are identified during the service appointment process.
• Carefully inspect every finished repair order for proper completion, pricing accuracy, and legibility.
• Collects the total retail charges from guests in cash, check, or authorized charge account; to include making change and issue receipts to guest.
• Close and finalize all repair orders for which funds have been received in computer system and reconciles cash drawer daily.
• Remain continuously posted on the shop’s workload to determine the kind of work the shop can quickly accommodate.
• Keep abreast of new products, features, etc., and their benefits to guests.

Compensation:

Base Hourly Rate of $16.90 plus commission which can range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) with no upper limit.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

• High School diploma or equivalent desired.
• Must have at least 3-5 years of automotive industry experience and expertise (auto repair, customer service and sales).
• Must have a valid California driver's license and good driving record.
• Must be willing to work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Able to problem solve and handle a variety of issues.
• Must be self-motivated and able to follow direction and able to work independently or as a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task projects, establish priorities, work independently and organize effectively.
• Must be detail orientated and be able to work under pressure.
