Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant School Leader of Instruction to join the growing KIPP St. Louis Region. The Assistant School Leader of Instruction is responsible for driving strong academic results for scholars through demonstrating instructional leadership competencies, establishing a clear instructional vision, and motivating others to follow that vision. The ASL of Instruction strategically implements the school and region’s instructional mission and vision by managing teachers, leading professional development, and fostering a positive school culture as part of the leadership team.

Position Details

Type: Full time, 12 months, exempt

Core Responsibilities
  1. Data-Driven Instructional Leadership
  2. Develop proficiency in Observation Feedback, Weekly Data Meeting, and Lesson Internalization protocols.
  3. Manage teacher performance through coaching, feedback, and instructional strategy development.
  4. Track all data in the preferred data system.
  5. Facilitate assessment data cycles and analyze student data to improve outcomes.
  6. Coordinate assessment administration with the ASL of Operations.

  2. Lead teacher cohorts to set and achieve development goals.
  3. Collaborate on school-wide rituals and systems supporting staff, scholars, and families.
  4. Build effective teams with trust, accountability, and clarity on goals.
  5. Support and develop teachers to meet or exceed goals.
  6. Plan and lead whole-school professional development.
  7. Own personal growth through feedback, regional resources, and external opportunities.

  2. Conduct classroom walk-throughs focused on academic monitoring and coaching.
  3. Uphold school culture norms and expectations for staff and scholars.

  4. Ensure unified messaging and urgent follow-through.
  5. Model values, embrace challenging conversations, and foster a positive environment.
