Job summary

Nickerson High School is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Scholar Bowl program as an Assistant Scholars Bowl Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal, supplemental role supports the head coach in practices, competition prep, and program development.

The ideal candidate will help foster academic achievement, teamwork, and positive attitudes while ensuring student safety and compliance with district policies during practices and events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.
• Knowledge of Scholar Bowl rules is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in organizing and conducting practices.
• Help prepare students for competitions through practice sessions.
• Encourage academic achievement and teamwork among participants.
• Supervise students during practices, competitions, and travel.
• Coordinate competition schedules and tournament logistics.
• Monitor student eligibility and maintain program records.
• Communicate with students, parents, staff, and administration.
• Promote sportsmanship and safe conduct at events.
• Ensure safety and adherence to district policies.
• Assist with recruiting student participants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Nickerson High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Scholar Bowl department as an Assistant Scholars Bowl Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with the head coach in developing student-scholar bowl program, academic excellence teamwork and leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of encourage acadmic achievement , teamwork and positive attitude among participants, and the ability to inspire and motivate young student participants.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practices.
• Help prepare students for competitions through study sessions, practice questions, and skill development activities.
• Encourage academic achievement, teamwork, and positive attitudes among participants.
• Assist with supervising students during practices, competitions, and travel.
• Help coordinate competition schedules, registration, and tournament logistics.
• Monitor student eligibility requirements and encourage academic success.
• Support the Head Coach in maintaining team records, statistics, and program documentation.
• Assist with communication to students, parents, staff, and administration regarding schedules and events.
• Promote good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct at all practices and competitions.
• Ensure student safety and adherence to district policies and procedures.
• Help recruit and retain student participants.
• Perform other duties related to the Scholar Bowl program as assigned by the Head Coach or Principal.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.
• Knowledge of Scholar Bowl competition rules and procedures preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise students in a safe and positive manner.
• Must meet all district employment requirements and coaching certifications as required by KSHSAA and the district.
• Ability to supervise students in classroom and competition settings.
• Ability to travel with students to competitions as required.
• Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods during practices and events.

Terms

• Supplemental position compensated according to the district's extracurricular salary schedule.
• Length of employment and duties are determined annually by the district and administration.

Must be able to pass a background check, physical, and TB test.
