Job summary

JBS USA in Colorado is seeking a Safety professional to maintain and guide HazCom, confined-space, PPE, Lockout Tag-out, electrical safety, emergency actions, Hazmat and industrial hygiene. The role involves auditing conditions, training, and ensuring contractor compliance.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Safety Engineering or related field, with knowledge of government regulations and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field; experience may substitute for degree.
• Knowledge of government safety regulations; ability to interact with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Strong verbal and written communication; analytical and persuasive skills for all levels.
• MS Office and Outlook proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, implement and provide guidance on HazCom, confined space, PPE, Lockout Tag-out, electrical safety, emergency action, Hazmat, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, machine guarding, materials handling and storage, ladders and stairways, forklifts, welding and cutting, and fall protection.
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions; conduct on-site inspections to audit conditions and practices.
• Assist in new employee orientation and annual safety training.
• Assist supervisors in investigating all injury and near-miss incidents during 2nd shift and report to Safety Manager.
• Ensure contractors comply with company safety policies and requirements.
• Monitor and update safety regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
• Develop safety guidelines and health and safety communications materials.
• Facilitate ergonomic/safety committees as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Safety Manager.

Qualifications

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field. Previous experience with safety and health issues. Experience may substitute for Bachelor's Degree.
• Knowledge in the application of government regulations in regard to general, chemical and construction safety. Able to communicate with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Systems knowledge (MS Office, Outlook).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
• Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
• 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
• Base salary range of $78,320 - $98,625
• This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
