Job summary

Hunt Military Communities is seeking a safety and environmental program professional in Texas to develop and maintain comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs. The role supports fire protection, regulatory compliance, inspections, and incident prevention across project operations.

The ideal candidate will assist management with OSHA/EPA/DOE guidelines, coordinate corrective actions, and conduct hazardous materials handling and training to ensure company-wide safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–3 years proven leadership experience in safety, health, and environmental program management including safety inspections, Haz-waste, Haz-chem, LBP, mold and asbestos.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining safety and environmental awareness programs.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and EPA/DOE regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, administer, maintain, and resolve a comprehensive safety and health program including fire protection and environmental compliance.
  • Assist management in interpreting OSHA and EPA/DOE regulations and provide guidance on inspections and citations.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate handling, packaging, retention, and shipping of hazardous and universal wastes.
  • Conduct regulatory inspections and prepare required safety/environmental reports.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on occupational health, safety, and environmental statistics.

Job description

A Brief Overview

Implements and upholds the company's established procedures for compliance with regulatory requirements. Conducts safety and environmental inspections as well as safety and environmental awareness training. Acts as employee liaison for all safety and environmental concerns. Ensures compliance for hazardous materials and hazardous waste, conducts mold, LBP, and asbestos inspections, and coordinates corrective actions to resolve potential hazardous situations. Maintains files/records in accordance with established company policies and federal/state guidelines.

What You Will Do
  • Assist with developing, coordinating, administering, maintaining, and resolving a comprehensive safety and health program and issues, including fire protection, safety awareness, environmental compliance, and prevention of on-the-job injuries.
  • Assesses new developments and regulations in the occupational health, safety, and environmental field, which may impact project operations; assists management in the understanding of OSHA and EPA/DOE regulations and standards, including guidance on compliance, inspections, and citations.
  • Assists directors, managers, and supervisors in identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices; ensures corrective actions are implemented.
  • Assists directors, managers, supervisors, and warehouse staff, where available, in collecting, consolidating, packaging, retaining, and shipping hazardous and universal wastes.
  • Conducts regulatory inspections such as mold inspections, LBP inspections, asbestos inspections, safety inspections of equipment, and job sites, in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Director of Environmental and Safety.
  • Collects and analyses data, prepares required reports for occupational health, safety & environmental statistics, and audits processes to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements, consistent with established procedures, reporting to the Director of Environmental and Safety on a quarterly basis.
  • Advises, consults, and counsels maintenance and leasing specialists on identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices, and on ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Responds to inquiries from the Director of Operations or Regional Maintenance Director, and exchanges information with the corporate environmental and safety department in the course of continuous improvement and compliance to accomplish job objectives.
  • Monitor all current information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous materials and agents.
  • Perform periodic inspections of heavy equipment as needed.
  • Performs training and surveillance inspections with the team as needed and as directed by the Director of Environmental & Safety
  • This position requires driving for the Company using either 1) a Company vehicle, at any frequency from Rarely to Constantly; or, 2) a Personal or Rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time to perform work duties.
Education Qualifications
  • Technical Vocational Education in related areas required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years proven leadership experience in safety, health, and environmental program management to include: safety inspections (company and residential), safety awareness training, Haz-waste, Haz-com, LBP, and Mold and Asbestos required.

  • Strong ability to coordinate corrective actions to resolve potential hazardous situations.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and MS Office.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires a detail-oriented, independent thinker who can be a part of a team and demonstrate knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, business partners, and industry professionals.
Licenses and Certifications
  • DL NUMBER - Driver's License, Valid and in State required.
  • OSHA 10 and 30-hours certification, OSHA 501 a plus, as well as professional certifications preferred or state licensing for mold, asbestos, NFPA, and playground inspections preferred
  • LBP RRP Training preferred
