Job summary

William & Mary is seeking an Assistant Rowing Coach to coach assigned crews and collaborate with the coaching staff to ensure program success. You will help maintain safety, assist with boat and boathouse upkeep, and support regatta management throughout the year.

You will guide rowers through on-water workouts and land training, teaching basic techniques to novices while ensuring progress in academics and commitments. Excellent teamwork within Campus Recreation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Two years prior experience with rowing or coxing.
  • Ability to drive a launch and obtain Virginia DWR boating license.
  • US Rowing Level 1 Certification or US Rowing Membership.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification, Red Cross & CDC Concussion Training.
  • US Rowing Safe Sport or willingness to obtain prior to coaching practices.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching on water and on land workouts for assigned crew.
  • Maintain a safe and productive program environment per safety plan.
  • Assist in boat and boat house maintenance.
  • Manage regatta days and the progression stats with Head Coach/Program Director.
  • Support attendance monitoring and collaboration with staff and center employees.
