Assistant Manager - Filé Gumbo Bar (NYC)
Overview

The Assistant Manager works with Filé's General Manager to provide exceptional customer service. The right candidate will lead FOH staff in a fast-paced restaurant environment to ensure a seamless culinary experience for our guests. Responsibilities include managing FOH staff, hiring, scheduling, training, and supervision.

You will ensure efficient restaurant operation while maintaining high standards of production, productivity, quality, and customer service. Responsibilities include overseeing the dining room, engaging with guests, and managing seating capacity. Lead by example to uplift staff during busy times.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily FOH restaurant operations: scheduling, hiring, tip reports, daily manager reports
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
  • Manage large group reservations
  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Engage with guests and respond to complaints
  • Organize and supervise shifts
  • Ensure sanitation and safety compliance
  • Maintain and improve the restaurant's image
  • Train staff on customer service practices
  • Implement policies for future operations
  • Oversee opening and closing tasks, including cash management
Requirements
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and long hours (5 days, 10 hours each)
  • Experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar role
  • Customer service experience in a managerial role
  • Knowledge of food and beverage, ingredients, and dishes
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Financial management skills
  • Degree in Business, Hospitality, or Culinary studies is a plus
  • Interest or knowledge in Cajun cuisine is a plus
