Job summary

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is hiring an Assistant Resource Specialist II to support water efficiency programs across commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential sectors. You will collect, organize, and analyze datasets, including water savings and program activity, and collaborate with member agencies and vendors on contracts and sustainable management.

Hybrid work is available, with two days in person and others remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience, or two years in MRD Assistant Resource Specialist I.
• Experience with resource conservation and efficiency (water, electricity, natural gas, or similar resources).
• Valid California Class C Driver's License required at time of application.

Assistant Resource Specialist II

There is currently one (1) position opening for Assistant Resource Specialist II located at Union Station, Los Angeles, CA.

Job Summary

As an Assistant Resource Specialist II on the Water Efficiency Team, you will support impactful water efficiency projects and programs across commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential sectors. In this role, you will help collect, organize, analyze and maintain key datasets-including water savings information and program activity distribution. Additionally, you will work with member agencies and outside vendors to support contractual arrangements and sustainable water management strategies across the region.

What You'll Do

• Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, organize, and maintain datasets on water savings, operational metrics, landscape area measurements, and program penetration across our service area.


• Technical & GIS Support: Perform GIS-based spatial analyses and write code or scripts to process and manipulate technical datasets.


• Reporting & Documentation: Review and analyze technical documents; draft reports, presentations, and formal correspondence for team and management review.


• Program & Project Assistance: Support the day-to-day coordination and execution of various water efficiency programs for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional stakeholders.


• Agreement Administration: May administer agreements with guidance and oversight from senior team members.


• Administrative support: Maintain software licenses for the team.

Schedule

Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.

Hybrid

Metropolitan's current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience; or two years in a MWD Assistant Resource Specialist I classification.

Relevant Experience is defined as:

work experience with resource conservation and efficiency (water, electricity, natural gas, or other similar resources).

Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
