The New York Foundling in New York is seeking a Residence Supervisor to lead direct support professionals and oversee daily operations ensuring high-quality, person-centered services for residents. Works in collaboration with the Residence Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Direct Support Professionals, ensuring adherence to agency policies, OPWDD regulations, and person-centered practices. Is responsible for talent managment, performance management and progressive disciple for the DSPs.
  • Collaborate with MAP, nurses, BIS and other members of the team to support all medical and clinical care, plans, meetings, and data for all persons supported. Promote community participation, inclusion, self-determination, and advocacy while ensuring coordinated services that support positive outcomes for persons suppoorted.
  • Develop and retain a strong DSP workforce by providing coaching, mentoring, recognition, training support, and ongoing performance feedback. Identify performance and competency gaps, establish clear expectations, conduct performance evaluations, implement performance improvement plans and utilize progressive discipline.
  • Respond to request by S&Q, Centralized Schedulers, DQI Survey and work with AVP in managers absence. Monitor and maintain compliance with program regulations, policies, and standards to uphold quality care and safety for persons supported.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external agencies, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive services and support for persons supported.
  • Implement and oversee emergency preparedness protocols and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of persons supported during crises.
  • Maintains compliance with OPWDD regulations, including documentation standards, program certification requirements, and readiness for audits or site visits.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with individuals, staff, community partners, advocates, and stakeholders to enhance support networks, promote inclusive opportunities, and advocate for the rights of persons supported.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED/Associates Degree: 5+ years of progressive experience in residential services, including 2+ year in a supervisory or managerial role within a developmental disabilities or social services agency.Bachelor's Degree: 3+ years of progressive experience in residential services, including 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Valid Drivers License from; NY,NJ, PA or CT with 6 points or less.
  • Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities: Understanding of the unique needs, challenges, and best practices in providing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Experience in developing and implementing individualized life plans tailored to match the specific goals and preferences of persons supported.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines governing residential programs for persons with developmental disabilities (e.g., Medicaid regulations, licensing requirements).
  • Budget Management: Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of program funds. Assist with handling the budget for the residence when it comes to food shopping, recreational activities, and giving out petty cash--this includes monitoring funds spent on in-house ledge
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with persons supported, families, advocates, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to respond calmly and effectively to crises or emergencies that may arise in a residential setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of persons supported.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Experience in maintaining accurate documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and regulatory compliance records.
