Job Summary

The Assistant Residence Manager is responsible for assisting the Residence Manager in supervising and coordinating the operations of the Residence.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the safety and well-being of the individuals being supported is maintained at the highest level possible.
  • Assure compliance with the 624 regulations and adhere to Abbott House policy and procedures for incident reporting
  • Coordinate medical appointments (post on medical calendar)
  • Review and sign off on all medical consults
  • Complete bi-weekly medication/medical supply inventory check
  • Review all MAR’s to monitor for medication administration compliance, MD orders, monthly blood pressure checks
  • Supervise direct support staff as it relates to data collection, active treatment and compliance with Abbott House’s policy and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for the individuals being supported in the absence of The Assistant Residence Manager
  • At the Direction of The Assistant Residence Manager, assist with the evaluation of staff performance
  • In the absence of The Assistant Residence Manager review timesheets for accuracy, and forward them to the Unit Administrator along with budget tracking sheets and per diem sheets
  • Assist in coordinating consumer financial expenses, i.e. clothing allowance, personal allowance, and the household budget
  • Assist Residence Manager in conducting staff and resident meetings
  • Prepare written reports as requested
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Work a varied schedule of evening, day and weekend hours
  • Assist in the training of Direct Support staff as required by supervisors
  • Assist in maintaining a clean physical environment and perform related work as required
  • Participate in in-service training modules as scheduled
  • Assure community inclusion, recreational activities are scheduled and implemented
  • Perform all necessary activities assigned to further the agency’s mission

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to keep balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Computer – The Assistant Residence Manager must be able to use a computer and able to learn software programs
  • Office Equipment- The Assistant Residence Manager is required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
  • Communication - The Assistant Residence Manager needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
  • Writing - The Assistant Residence Manager must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • Driving - The Assistant Residence Manager must have a valid Driver’s License and be willing to drive agency vehicles.
  • Lifting - The Assistant Residence Manager may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
  • Push/Pull - The Assistant Residence Manager may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
  • Sitting - The Assistant Residence Manager may sit 50-60% of the working day.
  • Standing - The Assistant Residence Manager may stand 10-20% of the working day.
  • Walking - The Assistant Residence Manager may walk 10-20% of the working day.
  • Stooping -The Assistant Residence Manager may occasionally stoop. This is defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling -The Assistant Residence Manager may occasionally kneel. This is defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).
  • Crouching - The Assistant Residence Manager may occasionally crouch. This is defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.
  • Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co- workers. The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Represent yourself and the Agency in a professional and courteous manner
  • Know, understand, and continually practice the Agency’s Standards of Conduct

HOURS AND TIME OF WORK

The Assistant Residence Manager is contracted for 40 hours a week. Flexibility is required
