Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Physics seeks a research assistant professor to lead in superconducting hybrid devices combining superconductors with graphene and other 2D materials.

The successful candidate will oversee thin-film growth, device fabrication, and transport measurements, with HPCVD, nanofabrication, and low-temperature/high-field experiments. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics, materials, or device physics.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, materials or device physics.
  • Strong knowledge in superconductivity, quantum materials, and superconducting devices.
  • Experience with epitaxial growth of thin films using CVD and related techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of pulsed-laser deposition, sputtering, lithography and low-temp, high-field measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in thin film growth, device fabrication, and transport measurements of superconducting devices.
  • Work on graphene and other 2D materials interfaced devices and nanofabrication.
  • Fabricate superconducting thin films using HPCVD and perform low-temperature experiments.
