Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University in University Park is seeking a term postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will pursue world-leading 2D materials research, including synthesis, characterization, layer transfer and processing, and will present results at technical conferences.

Responsibilities include preparing manuscripts, assisting with sponsor reports, and engaging in outreach to the broader community.

Qualifications

• PhD by time of hire in a relevant field.
• Experience with 2D materials synthesis, characterization, and processing.
• Experience with layer transfer and chalcogenide thin films is a plus.
• Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform world-leading 2D materials research on synthesis, characterization, layer transfer and processing.
• Present results at technical conferences and prepare manuscripts for submission.
• Assist with preparation of reports for research sponsors and scientific outreach to the broader community.
• Engage in equipment and process development and collaborate with theoretical/computational efforts.
