Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to fill an Assistant Property Manager role for a respected nonprofit organization providing affordable and supportive housing in New York City. This is a full-time, direct-hire, onsite opportunity supporting a mission-driven organization.

We seek a property management professional with LIHTC/Section 8 knowledge and at least 2 years of related experience. Strong communication, organization, and computer skills are essential; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in supportive housing, property management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, DHCR, NYC 15/15, ESSHI, SCRIE, DRIE requirements.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, math, organizational, computer literacy, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Spanish proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily property management operations, including rent processing, collection, arrears follow-up, lease administration, renewals, move-ins/outs, transfers, and tenant records.
  • Prepare and process Section 8 and LIHTC initial, interim, and annual certifications with required eligibility and documentation.
  • Maintain affordable housing compliance, including resident files, income certifications, rents, utility allowances, subsidy payments, and audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with social services and building staff to address resident concerns, arrears, housekeeping, disruptive behavior, maintenance needs, and incident reporting.
  • Co-supervise maintenance and administrative staff; assist with inspections, vendor coordination, violations, purchases, and general office operations.
  • Maintain accurate tenant, vendor, contract, inspection, and administrative records; liaison between residents and staff when the Property Manager is unavailable.

Assistant Property Manager

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Assistant Property Manager for a respected nonprofit organization providing affordable and supportive housing in New York City. This is a full-time, direct-hire, onsite opportunity supporting a mission-driven organization dedicated to helping individuals maintain safe, stable, and permanent housing.

We are seeking a property management professional with supportive housing experience and working knowledge of affordable housing programs, including LIHTC and Section 8.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with social services and building staff to address resident concerns, including arrears, housekeeping, disruptive behavior, maintenance needs, incident reporting, and other housing-related matters.
  • Co-supervise maintenance and administrative staff while assisting with building inspections, vendor coordination, violations, maintenance activities, purchasing, and general office operations.
  • Maintain accurate tenant, vendor, contract, inspection, and administrative records and serve as a liaison between residents and staff when the Property Manager is unavailable.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of comparable experience in supportive housing, property management, or a closely related field working with diverse populations and/or individuals with special needs.
  • Working knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, DHCR, NYC 15/15, ESSHI, SCRIE, and DRIE requirements.
  • High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication, math, organizational, computer literacy, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Spanish proficiency is preferred.
