Job description

Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. Founded in Austin, Texas, the organization serves its homeless neighbors through three core programs: Truck Ministry, Community First! Village, and Community Works. Often referred to as the most talked about neighborhood in Austin, Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. We are now embarking on a new phase of community expansion, adding more than 1400 new neighbors over the next 5-10 years.

About the Role

At Community First! Village (CFV), the Neighbor Care department has the privilege of walking alongside our neighbors, providing opportunities for them to settle, cultivate, and care for themselves and others in this unique community home to formerly chronically homeless individuals. As a part of the Neighbor Care team, the Property Management team is animated by a vision to empower neighbors into a lifestyle of accountability, goodness, and mutual respect in order to create a peaceful and healthy community.

The Assistant Property Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the operational integrity of CFV, supporting the Property Manager in overseeing this unique residential community. This position supports lease compliance, neighbor relations, and the development of systems and procedures that keep daily operations running smoothly. The role also supervises Property Management staff, coordinates with law enforcement and supportive services partners, and serves as a key leader within the Neighbor Care team.

We are currently hiring for two Assistant Property Manager positions to support our continued growth: one role will remain on our main CFV campus on Hog Eye Road, while the second role will begin onboarding at that location before transitioning to our new Burleson property, tentatively targeted for October and subject to operational needs.

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Property Manager. Due to the nature and requirements of the position, the hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Some nights and weekends may be required, as well as rotating on-call duties. Primary work location may shift based on operational needs and phase launch timing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enforce housing contract rules and communicate fines or corrective actions.
  • Oversee and audit lease violations issued to neighbors and maintain records of all communications.
  • Organize, analyze, and assess incident reports and identify lease violation trends.

  • Oversee unit inspections to assess cleanliness and compliance with lease agreements and report high-priority concerns.
  • Track unit-readiness timelines to ensure efficient turnover and occupancy compliance.
  • Oversee the processing of rent payments and track delinquencies.
  • Prepare and deliver notices in accordance with housing agreements and applicable law.
  • Generate regular reports on occupancy, compliance, lease activity, and trends for the Property Manager.
  • Conduct regular community walkthroughs to assess and document property and community conditions.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of policies and procedures and make recommendations to the Property Manager.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for administrative, leasing, and lease compliance functions and ensure adherence.
  • Make recommendations for housing contract amendments.
  • Assess lease violation trends to recommend strategies that improve neighbor retention.
  • Conduct and oversee move-in and move-out inspections and document unit condition.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Participate in planning and execution of community events and staff meetings.
  • Assist in planning, presenting, and executing quarterly CFV Town Halls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • MLF is a faith-based organization whose ideals and philosophy come directly from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As an organization, we strive to reflect this precept in our communications, both internally and externally.
  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals.
