Job summary

Arcan Capital seeks an Assistant Property Manager to support onsite operations, assist residents, and help maintain a welcoming community. The role involves leasing activity, collections, financial reporting, and resident communications, all while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in property management, strong accounting basics, and familiarity with Yardi and Rent Café.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in property management or a related field.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and property management software (Yardi, Rent Café).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and friendly assistance to current and prospective residents via phone, email, and in person.
  • Support leasing efforts by verifying applications and ensuring Fair Housing compliance.
  • Assist with staff training and model effective sales techniques.
  • Lead rent collection, manage delinquent accounts, and initiate lease actions when needed.
  • Contribute to budget management and maintain resident records and accounting tasks.
  • Conduct move-in/move-out inspections and ensure quality standards.
  • Act as Property Manager in absence and adapt to company needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

As an Assistant Property Manager, you play a vital role in the onsite management team, working under the direction of the Property Manager to ensure the success of an Arcan community. You will assist in overseeing daily operations, including leasing activity, renewals, collections, financial reporting, and resident communications, all while providing exceptional customer service. Your ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively, and maintain a welcoming community atmosphere will be essential in enhancing resident satisfaction and supporting property performance. This position requires a detail-oriented, customer-focused mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and friendly assistance to current and prospective residents, addressing inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a timely manner.
  • Support leasing efforts by verifying applications, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing guidelines, and leasing apartments as needed.
  • Assist with staff training and model effective sales techniques.
  • Lead rent collection efforts, manage delinquent accounts, and initiate lease terminations or legal action when necessary.
  • Contribute to budget management by making fiscally responsible decisions to enhance the community’s net operating income.
  • Maintain accurate resident records, process rental payments, and oversee accounting functions, including bank deposits.
  • Conduct move-in and move-out inspections, ensuring apartments and community areas meet quality standards.
  • Act as the Property Manager in their absence and adapt to evolving company needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in property management or a related field required; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and property management software such as Yardi and Rent Café.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills with a positive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Team player with a positive, professional attitude and a commitment to excellence.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local fair housing laws and regulations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Education & Experience (Preferred but Not Required)
  • Prior experience in customer service, leasing, hospitality, or administrative support. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
