Job summary

City of Houston is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the Transportation Rehabilitation Team. The successful candidate will support planning, coordination, and execution of street rehabilitation and roadway improvement projects from pre-construction through completion.

This role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors and public agencies to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract

Qualifications

• Educational requirements: Bachelor's degree as listed.
• Experience: No formal experience required; substitution allowed year-for-year for education.
• Preferences: CMAA CCM designation and strong communication/problem-solving skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating and overseeing work activities among construction personnel, consultants, and outside agencies to support project completion.
• Assist in developing budgetary controls, managing schedules, and defining the scope of work.
• Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and requirements.
• Process submittals, verify progress payments, and negotiate changes to contracts.
• Monitor documentation affecting change orders and maintain project records.
• Prepare and evaluate processes to achieve project goals and provide technical solutions.
• Drive to active project sites, design and construction meetings, and site visits.
