Assistant Project Manager (Project Biologist I) | Remote in SoCal
Join us at Montrose Environmental Group as an Assistant Project Manager (Project Biologist I). This role is based in Southern California and can be performed remotely within California.
About the Role
The Assistant Project Manager will support Project Managers in project tasks to meet profitability goals and deliver exceptional environmental services, focusing on Biological, Waters/Wetlands, CEQA/NEPA, and other Environmental Consulting areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in biological and waters/wetlands analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance for various project scales.
- Support CEQA and NEPA compliance documentation, permitting, and permit applications.
- Coordinate project assignments, review environmental data, develop analysis protocols, and support project management activities.
- Help oversee project compliance with mitigation measures and regulations, communicate with clients, support proposals, and manage contract compliance.
- Conduct biological surveys, wetland delineations, report writing, construction monitoring, and other related services.
- Ensure document quality through QA/QC procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow safety protocols, including OSHA regulations.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in biology, ecology, wetland science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Southern California.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (FESA, CESA, CWA, CEQA, NEPA).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Experience in project management, team leadership, data tracking, and budgeting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.
- Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork and work in various environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialized fields like botany, wildlife biology, habitat restoration, or fisheries.
- Permits such as USFWS 10(a)(1)(A) or CDFW Scientific Collecting Permits.
- Experience with wetland delineations and permit applications for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
