Job summary

G.E. Mechanical, LLC in Vineland, NJ is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Systems to handle cost estimating, bid reviews, and scheduling for commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing projects. You will help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Candidates may have a degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or two years’ PM/estimating experience in mechanical construction. Blueprint reading and risk management skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or related field.
• 2 years’ PM/estimating experience in mechanical construction or related industry.

Responsibilities

• Quantity take-offs, cost estimating, bid reviews, and document management for HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing projects.
• Create competitive estimates to meet margins and financial targets.
• Coordinate pricing data and proposals across HVAC and mechanical scopes.
• Schedule and manage resources and crews from start to finish within budget.
• Develop project schedules and monitor progress with ongoing reporting.
• Ensure health and safety compliance on all sites.
• Assist with client communications and invoicing.

Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Systems

Responsibilities

• Quantity take-offs, cost estimating, cost analysis, bid reviews and document management primarily for commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration plumbing, and mechanical systems
• Creating competitive and accurate estimates to achieve margin and financial targets
• Utilize centralized cost estimating models to ensure current and strategic pricing data is used during all HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical proposal development
• Follow-up with potential clients to finalize the work agreement
• Schedule and manage resources (HVAC/R / plumbing manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
• Develop, coordinate and track mechanical project schedules for optimal project management
• Supervise and interface with team members to ensure mechanical projects are delivered per estimates, as well as guiding technicians to provide necessary information to complete estimates
• Identify resources, assign workloads and manage schedules to ensure timely deliveries and project management
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues related to HVAC and plumbing mechanical projects
• Process client invoicing promptly
• Generating leads and new customers
• Ensure that team work in compliance with company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

OR

• 2 years' experience in project management and/or estimating in construction, mechanical, or related industry

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience with HVAC and plumbing equipment estimates and project management
• Skill and understanding in conceptual estimating
• In-depth understanding of estimating & construction procedures and material & project management principles
• Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets
• Advanced understanding of risk management
• Experience managing budgets and schedules for construction projectsAdvanced knowledge of estimating software, strategies and techniques
