Job summary

Accounting Search seeks an Assistant Project Manager for a large multiyear highway program in Lakeland/Polk County. This onsite, full‑time role supports planning, subcontracts and cost control, working with project managers to keep work on schedule and within budget.

The role requires a 4‑year degree in Construction or Civil Engineering and 3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects. Florida relocation is welcome for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or APM
• Four year degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Civil Engineering
• Solid with submittals, RFIs, quantities and pay estimates
• FDOT or Turnpike experience is a plus
• Clear writer and communicator under schedule pressure
• Primavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam is a plus
• Based in Central Florida or ready to relocate to the Lakeland area

Responsibilities

• Support the project manager on cost, schedule and resource planning
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders, and coordinate subs and suppliers
• Manage submittals, RFIs and change order paperwork with the owner
• Track quantities, pay items and monthly pay estimates
• Coordinate crews, material and equipment with the superintendents
• Keep permits, licenses and project documentation current
• Help update the schedule and the cost forecast
• Back the field on safety and quality
• Report progress to the project manager and the owner
