Job summary

United Future seeks an Assistant Project Manager for a large multiyear heavy civil highway program in the Lakeland area. You will work with the project manager on planning, subcontracts, and contract administration to keep the project on budget and schedule.

The role is ideal for a Project Engineer ready to move up or an APM seeking a major project with a stable employer, offering a long runway and opportunities for growth within a respected heavy civil contractor.

Qualifications

• 3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or APM.
• Four year degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Civil Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication under schedule pressure.
• FDOT or Turnpike experience is a plus.
• Based in Central Florida or willing to relocate to Lakeland area.

Responsibilities

• Support the project manager on cost, schedule and resource planning.
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders, and coordinate subs and suppliers.
• Manage submittals, RFIs and change order paperwork with the owner.
• Track quantities, pay items and monthly pay estimates.
• Coordinate crews, material and equipment with the superintendents.
• Keep permits, licenses and project documentation current.
• Help update the schedule and the cost forecast.
• Back the field on safety and quality.
• Report progress to the project manager and the owner.
