Job summary

TP Mechanical in Lexington, KY is seeking an experienced assistant project manager to support scheduling, budgeting and field coordination for mechanical projects. You will track costs, manage change orders and communicate with general contractors and site staff to keep projects on track.

The role requires reading blueprints, plumbing knowledge, and strong math/accounting skills. A high school diploma or GED is required, with trade school a plus; valid driver’s license and OSHA 10 preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
• Good math ability and general accounting skills.
• General computer skills and proficiency with standard software.

Responsibilities

• Assist project manager to ensure proper timelines and all requirements are met for all projects.
• Help with billing, change orders, collections, etc. to ensure timely completion.
• Keep the management staff up to date on all project issues.
• Review job cost, job status, manpower and change order reports to provide analysis monthly.
• Attend regular/monthly job cost reviews to reflect project profitability and issues.
• Communicate and troubleshoot with project manager, superintendents, construction managers and GCs.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, admins and other departments via meetings and emails.
• Assist with coordinating manpower and equipment for each job.
• Conduct/attend weekly job-site visits and meetings.
• Assist with job setup and contract review; ensure costs and schedule of values are timely and accurate.
• Generate project manager reports and attend PM meetings.
• Track submittals, generate purchase orders and negotiate subcontracts and purchases.
• All other duties as assigned.
