TP Mechanical in Columbus, OH seeks an Assistant Project Manager to oversee assigned projects from initiation to completion, coordinating with various teams to ensure timely, profitable delivery.

The role supports billing, change orders, and subcontracting tasks, with a focus on accurate cost tracking, procurement, and clear communication. A strong plumbing/mechanical background and 3+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years commercial plumbing/mechanical experience and/or related educational background.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
• Good math ability and general accounting skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists project manager to ensure proper timelines and all requirements are met for all projects; helps with billing, change orders, collections, etc.
• Reviews job cost, job status, manpower and change order reports to provide monthly analysis with project manager/team; attends monthly job cost reviews to reflect profitability and status.
• Communicates with project managers, superintendents, construction managers and GCs; coordinates with administrative staff via meetings, memos, emails.
• Assists with coordinating manpower and equipment for each job.
• Conducts weekly job-site visits and meetings.
• Assists with job setup and contract review; ensures estimated costs and schedule of values are timely and accurate.
• Generates project manager reports and attends PM meetings as appropriate.
• Tracks submittals, generates purchase orders and negotiates subcontracts and purchases per project.

Responsibilities For This Position Also Include

• Assists project manager to ensure proper timelines and all requirements are met for all projects. Helps with billing, change orders, collections, etc. to ensure timely completion. Keeps the management staff up-to-date on all project issues.
• Reviews job cost, job status, manpower and change order reports to provide analysis on a monthly basis with project manager/project management team. Attends regular/monthly job cost reviews to accurately reflect project profitability and status of all project issues.
• Communicates and troubleshoots with project manager, project superintendents, construction managers and General Contractors. Also, communicates effectively with all project managers, administrative assistants and other departments through meetings, memos, e-mails, etc.
• Assists with coordination proper manpower and equipment for each job.
• Conducts/attends weekly job-site visits and job meetings.
• Assists with proper job setup and contract review. Helps to ensure that estimated costs and schedule of values are done in a timely and accurate manner.
