Job summary

Ajax Building Company, part of the STO Building Group, seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support planning and execution of complex construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will gain hands-on exposure to all phases of project delivery while working with experienced PMs and field leaders in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes coordinating teams, maintaining logs and documentation, and assisting with cost and schedule controls.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in the construction management field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, OR 4+ years of equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Distribute drawings, specifications, and design revisions to team and subcontractors to ensure current documents.
• Assist in managing RFIs and submittals, including drafting, tracking, and coordinating responses with the design team and field.
• Maintain project logs (RFIs, submittals, change orders, minutes) and follow up on outstanding items.
• Coordinate with field leadership, subcontractors, and vendors to keep work progressing per schedule.
• Assist with basic estimating, take-offs, and soliciting subcontractor/vendor quotes for cost control.
• Participate in project meetings, document minutes, and track action items to completion.
• Support development and implementation of project procedures and documentation standards.
• Track project progress and report updates to the Project Manager; support change management processes.
