Job summary

Preston Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Assistant Electrical Project Manager in Austin, TX. You will work with experienced PMs and superintendents to manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders, coordinate deliveries, and support schedules and costing on electrical construction projects.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in construction, electrical experience preferred, ability to read drawings, and strong organization and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of construction project experience.
• Ability to read drawings and construction documents.
• Strong organisation and communication skills.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Construction Management / Engineering degree useful but not essential if you have relevant field experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders and project logs.
• Coordinate material deliveries and long-lead equipment.
• Support project schedules and manpower planning.
• Attend project and client meetings.
• Track project costs, labour hours and percent completion.
• Review purchase orders and subcontractor invoices.
• Assist with cost-to-complete reporting.
• Coordinate between clients, GCs, engineers and field teams.

Preston Recruitment is looking for an Assistant Electrical Project Manager to join a fast-growing commercial electrical contractor in the Austin area.

The business is looking to make multiple hires, making this an excellent opportunity for someone early in their project management career who wants exposure to significant electrical construction projects and a clear route toward becoming a Project Manager and beyond.

What You'll Do:

• Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, you will:
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and project logs
• Coordinate material deliveries and long-lead equipment
• Support project schedules and manpower planning
• Attend project and client meetings
• Track project costs, labour hours and percent completion
• Review purchase orders and subcontractor invoices
• Assist with cost-to-complete reporting
• Conduct project site walks
• Coordinate between clients, GCs, engineers and field teams
• Support project closeout, punch lists and turnover documentation

What We're Looking For:

• Approximately 1-3 years of construction project experience
• Electrical construction experience strongly preferred
• Commercial, industrial or mission-critical experience advantageous
• Ability to read drawings and construction documents
• Strong organisation and communication skills
• Experience with construction management software advantageous
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Construction Management / Engineering degree useful but not essential if you have relevant field experience
