Job summary

UF Health seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support construction projects by reviewing costs, assessing bids, and ensuring contract compliance. The role involves coordinating life safety plans and risk assessments, and preparing scopes for POs and contracts.

Collaboration with the Quality and Preventive Maintenance teams is essential. The position requires strong Microsoft Office skills, effective communication, and a solid background in commercial construction, with healthcare experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five years of construction supervisory experience can substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of three years of commercial construction experience and knowledge of building codes including Florida Building Code and NFPA standards.
  • Healthcare construction experience preferred; knowledge of healthcare codes preferred.
  • Scheduling software experience (e.g., Microsoft Project) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Construction on assigned construction projects.
  • Review project costs and report budget variances to the project manager.
  • Review cost proposals for change order work to evaluate pricing fairness.
  • Evaluate competitive bids to identify best value bidder.
  • Prepare and execute Interim Life Safety Plans and Infection Control Risk Assessments.
  • Prepare scopes of services for purchase orders and contracts.
  • Verify contractor and vendor compliance with contract terms.
  • Collaborate with UF Health Manager of Quality and Preventive Maintenance for inventorying and establishing preventive maintenance measures for new equipment and FF&E.
  • Coordinate training of owner staff on new systems and equipment.
  • Manage a moderate to heavy workload of projects using technical and practical knowledge, with good judgement and interpersonal/ management skills.

Verifies contractor and vendor compliance with contract terms. Preferred Education: B.S. in Building Construction or Construction Management. Five (5) years of construction supervisory experience can substitute for degree.

Required Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of commercial construction experience and general knowledge of all phases of commercial construction and building codes, including Florida Building Code and NFPA standards.

Preferred Experience: Experience in healthcare construction is preferred. Knowledge of codes and standards specific to healthcare construction preferred. Experience with Microsoft Project or other scheduling software is also preferred.
