Total Wine & More is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Construction to support the Project Management team from preconstruction to closeout. You will help coordinate activities, manage records, and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget across rollouts, remodels, and capital improvements.
The role reports to the Director of Construction, offering growth toward a full Project Manager position with exposure to procurement, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Total Wine and More is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Construction who will provide essential support to the Project Management team in the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through to project closeout. This role involves managing multiple concurrent projects, including rollouts, remodels, refreshes, and capital improvement initiatives while ensuring that each project remains on schedule, within budget, and compliant with company quality and safety standards. Working closely with Construction Project Managers, consultants, vendors, and internal departments, the Assistant Project Manager helps coordinate project activities, administer contracts, manage project documentation, monitor financial performance, and facilitate communication among all project stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, financially minded, and eager to develop into a full Project Manager through hands‑on experience managing all phases of commercial construction. You will report to the Director of Construction.
You will Assist Project Managers with coordination for assigned construction projects, including startup activities, milestone tracking, stakeholder communications, and cross-functional follow-up to keep projects progressing on schedule. Track project schedules, documentation requirements, purchase orders, contracts, insurance certificates, landlord approvals, and turnover needs in partnership with Project Managers and internal teams. Oversee accurate and current project records, including RFIs, submittals, transmittals, shop drawings, change orders, closeout documentation, warranties, as‑built drawings, operation manuals, and owner turnover packages. Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with internal approval processes. Support small Facilities projects or work orders when construction coordination is needed. Maintain organized project files and provide timely updates to Project Managers and internal stakeholders. Participate in project meetings and capture follow-ups, decisions, and open items. Support continuous improvement of project coordination tools, workflows, and reporting practices.
You will come with Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent construction industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 3-6 years of experience in commercial construction, assistant project management, project engineering, construction administration, project controls, or a related field. Experience supporting or coordinating multiple commercial construction projects strongly preferred. Working knowledge of the construction lifecycle from preconstruction through project closeout. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate. Microsoft Project or comparable scheduling tools. Autodesk Construction Cloud or comparable construction document management systems. Power BI or dashboard/reporting tools preferred.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 5% as needed for meetings, site visits, or project support.
