Position: Assistant Project Manager

Location: Mims, FL

Pay: $55,000 - $65,000 D.O.E

General Summary

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in various tasks, acting as a liaison between clients and the management team. The role involves exposure to scheduling, budgeting, and quality control, assisting from project review through to closeout. The APM collaborates with the Project Manager, Superintendents, and other departments to monitor project progress, manage documentation, and communicate with clients.

Responsibilities
  • Review plans, specifications, and scope of projects.
  • Assist in managing project finances and maintaining good client relationships.
  • Handle project documentation such as permits, licenses, RFIs, change orders, etc.
  • Manage procurement of materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to set objectives and oversee construction activities.
  • Maintain communication with owners and their representatives.
  • Monitor project schedule and budget, reporting on progress and issues.
  • Identify potential problems and develop corrective actions.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Support accounting with cost coding and invoice approvals.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience in heavy civil construction.

1-3 years of project experience in heavy civil construction environments.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction practices.
  • Understanding of business practices and project management.
  • Strong decision-making, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately in a high-production environment.
Physical Demands

Regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for computer work. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Outside work around construction equipment, with safety awareness required.
