Job summary

Cooltrace Corporation in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to lead HVAC construction projects from planning through completion. You will work with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field crews to keep projects on time, on budget, and up to the company’s quality standards.

The role requires a 3+ year track record in commercial construction, strong communication and software skills, and willingness to travel about 25% across South Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in commercial construction.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
• Experience with on-site operations and coordinating with owners, architects, and subs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day on-site construction operations for commercial HVAC projects.
• Supervise field workers and subcontractors on site.
• Coordinate contractual requirements, drawings, schedules, and specifications.
• Perform job cost analysis and track costs to keep projects within budget.
• Support submittal and RFI process with A/E team.
• Maintain project documentation and monthly reporting.
• Attend and facilitate weekly meetings with owners' reps and stakeholders.
• Monitor schedule adherence and flag deviations early.
• Adapt to varying project scopes across hospitality, retail, and government sectors.

The Role

The Assistant Project Manager works alongside senior project leadership to drive the planning, execution, and financial performance of assigned mechanical construction projects. You will coordinate across owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field crews — keeping projects on schedule, on budget, and up to Cooltrace's standard of quality.

What You'll Do

• Assist in managing day-to-day on-site construction operations for commercial HVAC projects
• Supervise and direct field workers and subcontractors on the job site
• Coordinate contractual requirements, design drawings, schedules, and project specifications
• Perform job cost analysis and cost tracking to keep projects within budget
• Support the submittal and RFI process in collaboration with the A/E team
• Maintain project documentation, including contract administration and monthly reporting
• Attend and facilitate weekly team meetings with owners' representatives and project stakeholders
• Monitor project schedule adherence and flag deviations early
• Adapt across varying project scopes and client environments in hospitality, retail, and government sectors

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in commercial construction
• Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and on budget — be ready to walk us through your portfolio
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project; AutoCAD skills a plus
• Familiarity with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interface professionally with owners, engineers, building departments, and field teams
• Mechanical contracting or HVAC project experience is a strong advantage

Location

Fort Lauderdale, FL (Broward County). Candidates must be able to commute to or relocate to the Davie area prior to start date. Role requires approximately 25% travel within South Florida for project site visits.
