UNC Institute for the Environment (IE) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuarine Program CCMP 2025–2030. You will perform background research, assist in managing focus teams, and help draft near-term implementation plans under supervision of IE staff.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field; GIS experience and strong organizational skills are preferred.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Assistant Project Manager will support the implementation of the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuarine Program’s Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan ( CCMP ) 2025-2030. The Assistant Project Manager will independently perform background research related to a subset of the 31 actions outlined in the CCMP , assist the project manager in managing focus teams and facilitating meetings and workshops, and contribute to near‑term implementation plan drafts for assigned actions. This position may require shared supervision of 1-2 part‑time graduate student researchers conducting background research. The Assistant Project Manager’s duties and responsibilities will include:
The Assistant Project Manager will be supervised by Lindsay Dubbs, Research Associate Professor at the UNC Institute for the Environment and Claire Johnson, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the UNC Institute for the Environment
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
