Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking self-motivated, safety and success-orientated Assistant Project Managers throughout the United States to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  1. Plan and manage all aspects of large Heavy Civil/Transit projects.
  2. Drive our Safety without Compromise culture.
  3. Manage Labor Harmony in Union, Open Shop, Merit Shop environment.
  4. Develop and manage the construction schedule.
  5. Independently coordinate work of Construction Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents throughout entire project life cycle.
  6. Establish and maintain client/stakeholder relations and be involved with contractual, design and production meetings.
  7. Participate in budget and estimate reviews.
  8. Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with entire staff.
  9. Coordinate workload throughout preconstruction and construction activities.
  10. Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust resources with team to ensure that work is completed within the budget and schedule.
  11. Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager to develop project reviews and with Executive management as needed.
  12. Preparation and review of Owner, Contractor, Subcontractor, and consultant payment application.
  13. Preparation and review of contracts and subcontracts.
  14. Mentor and support continued development of staff.
  15. Reports directly to CEO and Senior Vice President of National Construction.
  16. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  17. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. 4-year engineering degree or equivalent, preferred.
  2. 7 to 10 years’ experience/knowledge of Heavy Civil and Transportation Construction, design, finance, and management.
  3. Varying levels of experience in project scope may determine Project Management level, such as:
  4. In excess of $50 million project experience.
  5. $250-$500 million project experience.
  6. $500 million and above project experience.
  7. Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  8. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc.
  9. Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
  10. Significant business skills.
  11. Highly organized with strong ability to multitask.
  12. An attitude of commitment to being an active participant of the Herzog Culture.
  13. Ability to confidently make decisions and recommendations that will significantly impact profitability of assigned project.
  14. Ability to individually rule significant judgements on assessments/situations.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  1. Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  2. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  3. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
  4. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  5. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  1. Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  2. Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  3. Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  4. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  5. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  6. Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  7. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
