Join our team as an Assistant Project Manager and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mechanical projects. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams while gaining hands-on experience and continuing to develop your project management skills.
The Assistant Project Manager will support projects from preconstruction through completion, helping ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project requirements.
Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day management of commercial mechanical construction projects.
Support project planning, scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
Assist with tracking project budgets, costs, schedules, and deadlines.
Review project drawings, specifications, and other construction documents.
Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
Help ensure materials, equipment, and project information are available when needed.
Maintain organized and accurate project records.
Assist with identifying and resolving project-related issues.
Participate in project meetings and communicate updates as needed.
Support project closeout activities and documentation.
Help ensure projects are completed in accordance with VMG quality and safety standards.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Coordinator or in a construction administrative role.
Familiarity with methods, equipment, and tools used in the HVAC service and installation trade.
High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and influence.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Familiarity with mechanical drawings and commercial construction projects.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with industry software such as Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.
Ability to understand, prioritize, and manage project deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple priorities.
This position is based at our HQ in Sterling, VA. The role also requires travel to project sites throughout the DMV area, which may account for approximately 30-40% of the position.
