J&J Worldwide Services CBRE Government and Defense Business is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to oversee diverse DoD/Healthcare renovation contracts. You will focus on relationships, schedule, and budget while coordinating design teams and subcontractors across the project lifecycle.

The role requires coordinating plans, maintaining records in Procore, and supporting BD for growth. Base salary will be discussed with benefits typical for government/defense work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science.
  • 5 years managing a portfolio of construction projects similar to the described work.
  • 5 years developing and managing projects near $1M each or greater.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budget of assigned projects.
  • Assist with scope of work for subcontracts and manage subcontractors.
  • Support project lifecycle from solicitation to closeout and final payment.

Job description

This position is with J&J’s Engineering Solutions (“ENGS”), a Strategic Business Unit (“SBU”). ENGS’s core business is working for the Department of Defense (“DoD”) and Defense Health Agency (“DHA”) to perform renovation of existing facilities while they remain occupied and functional, especially in the healthcare industry. Most of this work is performed as a prime contractor, contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (“USACE”).

As an Assistant Project Manager, they will work across an assortment of contracts and work with a wide diversity of customers. The APM is focused on, relationships, schedule, and budget.

Primary Job Functions
  • Assistingwithbudget of assigned projects.
  • Assistingwiththe scope of work for subcontracts, negotiate buyout of subcontractors, and manage the subcontractors to the terms and conditions of the subcontract.
  • Assistingproject for entire lifecycle, from receipt of solicitation to closeout of project and receipt of final payment.
  • Supportingsite staff have necessary authority and resources to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
  • May train, manage, and hold accountable site staff.
  • Under the guidance and direction of the Project Executive (“PX”), perform Performance Evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Through a combination of design consultants and in-house employees, directly lead and coordinate all design efforts. Ensure milestone compliance for design deliverables.
  • Working through subordinate site staff, coordinate and manage all repair/renewal efforts for safe, quality, on time delivery of a project.
  • Supportingandassistingthecost loaded project schedule, for every assigned project, in its native software (Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera P6, asdeterminedby project requirements and Director), while alsomaintainingin Procore and RMS.
  • Generate, route for approval, and activelymaintainproject specific submittal register(s) (unless/until it can be delegated to a Quality Control Manager at the site).
  • If site supervisory personnel are not assigned, generate and route for approval project specific plans (e.g.DQCP, PSQCP, AAPP, APP, AHA, etc.). If site supervisory staff are assigned, review and approve project specific plans prior to submission to customer.
  • May berequiredto temporarily fill site supervisory role (e.g., Superintendent, QCM, SSHO) tomaintainschedule in a supervisor’s absence.
  • Based on input from PX, provide site supervisory staff with priorities and guidance in strategizing and problem solving.
  • Perform remote and onsite audits of documentation and work by site staff and subcontractors.Identifypositive and negative trends. Generate action plans to improve negative trends.
  • Work with the PX to continuously develop and revise processes in a manner that improves safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Foster professional development among the team.
  • Always be working a succession plan, bringing people up through the ranks.
  • Provide meaningful support to Business Development (“BD”) for strategic growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science.
  • 5years Managing a portfolio of construction projectssimilar tothe type of work being performed on this project.
  • 5 years Developing and managing projects near $1M each or greater.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effectively lead a team of construction professionals and be the face of the company to the customer.
  • Troubleshoot and navigate through contracting and subcontracting issues.
