Job summary

Invoke Staffing is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support water and wastewater construction projects in North Carolina. Travel within NC may be required.

This role focuses on coordinating schedules, budgets, change orders, and subcontractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. The ideal candidate has a civil engineering/construction background, 1–3+ years of heavy civil experience, and strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3+ years of experience with heavy civil, water treatment, or wastewater treatment construction projects.
  • Knowledge of construction management, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and contract administration.
  • Experience using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing multiple water and wastewater construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules.
  • Assist in budgeting, cost controls, and forecasting.
  • Support project billing, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and process change orders; evaluate extra-work costs.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Review labor productivity reports and assist with production planning.
  • Monitor schedule and budget impacts; communicate proactively.
  • Maintain project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, and design teams on scope changes.
  • Prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, and material certifications.
  • Expedite procurement of equipment and materials to support schedules.
  • Maintain project documentation and vendor invoices.
  • Assist with subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
  • Track equipment fabrication and delivery to minimize delays.

About the Opportunity

Invoke Staffing is recruiting an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of complex water treatment and wastewater treatment plant construction projects. This position is ideal for a motivated construction professional with experience managing heavy civil and environmental infrastructure projects who is looking to grow within a highly respected contractor.

Project Management
  • Assist in managing multiple water and wastewater construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets and cost controls.
  • Support project billing, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Prepare and process change orders and evaluate costs associated with extra work.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Review labor productivity reports and assist with production planning.
  • Monitor project performance and communicate schedule or budget impacts proactively.
  • Support daily project management activities as required.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, and design teams regarding scope changes and project issues.
  • Prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, and material certifications.
  • Expedite procurement of equipment and materials to support project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, drawings, records, and files.
  • Process vendor and subcontractor invoices.
