Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Manager in Middletown, CT to lead facility infrastructure and capital improvement projects. The role involves coordinating multi-project delivery, ensuring safety, and managing budgets and schedules.

The position requires a flexible schedule with potential travel to local facilities and collaboration with contractors, on‑call professionals, and project teams to meet project goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction management or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee several projects at the same time.
  • Plan all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion, with knowledge of all areas of construction and M.G.L. Ch 149 procurement.
  • Provide proactive planning and project management to assist project teams and ensure coordination among all parties and stakeholders.
  • Manage project procurement activities.
  • Coordinate and obtain all necessary regulatory permits.
  • Ensure that all local, state, and national building codes and regulations and safety precautions are followed.
  • Manage on‑call design professionals (house doctors), general contractors, on‑call contractors and construction manager partners and oversee their work.
  • Review work orders and amendments from house doctors.
  • Develop and adhere to the budget, timeline and quality control plan.
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Report regularly on progress of projects to senior members of the team and inform of potential risks, delays or issues.
  • Manage both internal and external risks within the project’s lifetime.
  • Contribute to the culture of health and safety on the project.
  • Perform project inspections on site, verifying that necessary inspections and testing are performed and documented.
  • Hold project meetings as required and disseminate information and action items.
  • Monitor contractor progress against baseline schedule.
  • Review contractor change order requests.
  • Review and approve contractor pay applications.
  • Manage project turnover documents and project closeout.
  • Interpret and understand construction documentation, including plans, specifications, contracts and related addenda.

The work schedule for this position fluctuates based on the needs of projects or events, requiring a flexible schedule that may include early morning, night, or weekend activities. Travel to local facilities may be required.

Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
