Assistant Project Manager – Multifamily Construction
Position Overview:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with ground-up multifamily, mixed-use, or large-scale residential construction and a strong understanding of project documentation, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the management of multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
- Assist with subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, and contract administration.
- Support project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting.
- Review drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in OAC and subcontractor meetings and assist with meeting minutes and follow-up items.
- Work closely with the Superintendent to maintain project schedules and resolve field issues.
- Track material procurement and long-lead items to prevent schedule delays.
- Assist with quality control, punch lists, inspections, turnover, and project closeout.
- Maintain strong communication with project stakeholders and ensure action items are completed on schedule.
Qualifications:
- 2-5+ years of construction experience, preferably with a multifamily General Contractor, developer-builder, or owner-builder.
- Experience with ground-up multifamily, apartments, mixed-use, podium, wrap, garden-style, or high-density residential projects preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project management processes.
- Experience with software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Build, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project is beneficial.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
