Job summary

Superior Construction is seeking a seasoned Civil Engineer/Project Manager to lead heavy civil highway projects. You will collaborate on plans, staffing, equipment, and schedules while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

You will review contracts, manage invoices and change orders, and mentor engineers and interns. The role demands strong communication, budget control, and reliable leadership on demanding sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Science and Management or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of heavy highway experience; 2+ years of progressive project management experience preferred.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor Construction Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to develop and adjust project plans, staffing, equipment, and timelines.
  • Review contract documents and payment terms; approve invoices, subcontractor payments, and cost reports; identify variances and potential claims.
  • Maintain project records (daily reports, logs, photos, meeting minutes) and manage the project budget.
  • Mentor project engineers and interns; enforce company policies across the team.
  • Negotiate and oversee subcontractors and vendors; ensure timely payments and resolution of changes/claims.
  • Represent the company professionally; maintain relationships and integrity in negotiations.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and ensure a safe work environment across activities.

Must be able to navigate rugged terrain, climb substantial heights, and work over and on water.The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination.
