Job summary

VoltaGrid in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager and senior team across all phases of project execution, from estimating to closeout. Qualifications

• Two years of experience in project support roles within the construction or power infrastructure industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Engineering preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• Experience with substations or electrical utility projects is a strong plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; scheduling software experience (Primavera P6, MS Project) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in managing projects from pre-construction through final delivery.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Track and manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and asset teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Participate in subcontractor and vendor coordination, including issuance of purchase orders and monitoring of performance.
• Contribute to estimating efforts by conducting quantity takeoffs and preparing cost summaries.
• Maintain project tracking logs for schedule updates, change management, procurement status, and other key project metrics.
• Collaborate with safety and quality teams to support compliance with safety standards and quality control procedures.
• Support project closeout activities, including compiling documentation, punch lists, and turnover packages.
• Assist in the resolution of field issues, RFIs, and unforeseen challenges in collaboration with internal teams and subcontractors.
• Help enforce contractual and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction management, Construction Science, Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Construction Management, Construction Science or Engineering degree.
• Two (2) years of experience in project support roles within the construction or power infrastructure industry; experience with substations or electrical utility projects is a strong plus.
• Understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing, particularly in electrical infrastructure.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); scheduling software experience (Primavera P6, MS Project) is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems and developing solutions.
• Comfortable working on-site in field construction environments as needed.
