Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Project Manager I / Project Engineer to support cradle-to-grave execution of data center, power, and industrial projects. This hands-on role coordinates with customers, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and operations to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

  • Experience in project engineering, project management, construction management, project controls, or a similar project-focused role.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects, schedules, budgets, vendors, and project deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, procurement, scheduling, or cost tracking.
  • PMP, PE, or other relevant project/engineering certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support cradle-to-grave execution of technical and construction-related projects.
  • Manage key project activities involving schedules, costs, procurement, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineering teams, vendors, contractors, manufacturing, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively identify potential delays, risks, and performance issues.
  • Support contract administration, change management, cost tracking, and project forecasting.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Communicate project status, priorities, and potential issues to internal teams and customers.
  • Help resolve technical and commercial issues that could impact project cost, schedule, or delivery.

Assistant Project Manager I / Project Engineer - Data Center / Industrial Projects


Location: Houston, TX


Job Type: Full-Time


Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 annually + 5% bonus potential


About the Opportunity


We are seeking an Assistant Product Manager I to support the execution of engineered projects serving the data center, power, and industrial markets. This is a hands-on project management opportunity for someone with experience in project engineering, construction management, project controls, or technical project coordination who is ready to take on greater project ownership.


Working closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams, you will help manage projects from planning through delivery while serving as a key point of coordination between customers, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and operations.


What You'll Do



  • Support cradle-to-grave execution of technical and construction-related projects.

  • Manage key project activities involving schedules, costs, procurement, documentation, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate with customers, engineering teams, vendors, contractors, manufacturing, and internal stakeholders.

What We're Looking For



  • Experience in project engineering, project management, construction management, project controls, or a similar project-focused role.

  • Experience supporting multiple projects, schedules, budgets, vendors, and project deliverables.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, procurement, scheduling, or cost tracking.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; MS Project or similar scheduling software experience preferred.


Preferred Background


Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:



  • HVAC or mechanical systems

  • Electrical or power distribution systems

  • Data centers or mission-critical facilities

  • Switchgear, UPS, generators, or controls

  • Modular or packaged equipment

  • Industrial manufacturing or fabrication

  • EPC or industrial construction environments


A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. Relevant technical, military, or hands-on project experience will also be considered.


PMP, PE, or other relevant project/engineering certifications are a plus.
