Job summary

Garland Heating and Air Conditioning in Garland, TX is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - HVAC Mechanical to support all phases of HVAC projects, from estimating through field execution. You will work with the Project Manager and Lead Estimator to ensure scope, budget, and schedule alignment and effective communication with clients and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of HVAC construction PM experience, is proficient with Excel, QuoteSoft, MS Project, Procore and Blue Beam,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of PM experience in HVAC mechanical construction.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
• Proficiency with Excel, QuoteSoft, MS Project, Procore, and Blue Beam.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC Division 23, drawings, specs, and construction methods.
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification.

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager - HVAC Mechanical is responsible in helping the team in all phases of HVAC mechanical projects, from estimating, pre-construction through field execution of Mechanical projects. In addition to leading project execution, the role also includes responsibilities in estimating, helping ensure accurate bid development and financial forecasting for new opportunities. This individual will work with Project Manager and Lead Estimator to help in project management and communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful delivery in alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

I. Project Planning & Execution

• Develop and assist in managing detailed project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to finalize HVAC system specifications.
• Oversee procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Assist in bid coordinating detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC mechanical scopes based on drawings, specifications, site visits, and vendor/subcontractor quotes
• Analyze labor, material, and equipment requirements and their associated costs
• Participate in bid reviews and provide value engineering alternatives to improve cost competitiveness.
• Assist in developing bid proposals, scope clarifications, and project budgets during pre-construction.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and verify scope coverage.
• Work with field staff, subcontractors, and foremen on project execution.
• Facilitate regular project meetings to address progress, schedule updates, and any field challenges.

IV. Budget & Cost Control

• Monitor and control project budgets, cost performance, and financial reporting.
• Review vendor/subcontractor invoices, change orders, and payment applications.
• Identify and collaborate and provide feedback in cost-control strategies and change management procedures.

V. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the secondary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain effective communication and documentation to align expectations and resolve issues promptly.
• Provide regular progress updates and closeout documentation.

Qualifications

I. Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline is preferred
• 2+ years of project management experience in HVAC mechanical construction. A Master's degree will suffice with solid internship experience if no practical experience.
• Demonstrated success in managing HVAC construction projects from pre-construction through close-out.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Excel, QuoteSoft) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore). Blue Beam take offs for ductwork etc.
• Strong understanding of HVAC Division 23, blueprints, specifications, and construction methods.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Effective verbal and written communication with both internal teams and external clients.

• Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
• Will Sponsor H1-B for potential candidates after successful track record with Company.
