Salary:

TMGs Assistant Project Manager must demonstrate the ability to manage the cradle-to-grave aspects of the entire life-cycle of a small commercial and/or institutional design/build project or support the project management process for larger projects. The role includes understanding process management and performing work contracted through various delivery methods such as IDIQ, Lump-Sum Contracting, Design/Build, and Fast Track contracts. The Assistant Project Manager primarily works through subcontractors but can also manage self-performed construction activities. Manage task order type and design/build projects.

Scope of the Position

Manages all aspects of project management for a small project valued at approximately $0-4 million or supports multiple small or large projects.

Essential Functions

Possesses basic knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical disciplines. Demonstrates good analytical skills and proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and reporting software. Communicates effectively with management, subcontractors, customers, and peers. Willingness to travel within a designated geographical area.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain project controls tracking project status, changes, RFIs, shop drawings, quality, safety, financial performance, and close-out activities.
  • Analyze reports and influence project priorities to prevent delays.
  • Work with subject matter experts on shop drawings and submittals.
  • Manage or support change management activities such as updating logs, obtaining quotes, developing estimates, and writing change orders.
  • Support the estimating process through quantity surveys and software tools.
  • Establish and maintain project schedules using scheduling software.
  • Assist with physical layout, develop control line drawings, and coordinate shop drawings.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Maintain reports using project management software like TMGs Project Center, USACE QCS/RMS, Prolog, etc.
  • Identify issues proactively and facilitate solutions.
  • Ensure project compliance with contract terms and legal requirements.
  • Engage with supporting departments like accounting, HR, ICS, etc.
  • Participate in project closeout activities and evaluate projects for constructability and cost savings.
  • Engage in professional development and industry networking.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management with 2-3 years of experience or 5 years of related experience without a degree.
  • Experience estimating and managing self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Understanding of construction methods for commercial and institutional renovations and site work.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and industry software.
  • Current OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Current CQC certification by USACE/NAVFAC.
  • Professional credentials such as EIT or AC in good standing.
  • US Citizenship required; a grace period of six months may be granted to obtain credentials.
