Job summary

JPI, a leading multifamily developer in Dallas, seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager and field teams. You will help manage documentation, subcontractor coordination, bids, and scopes of work to keep projects on schedule.

The role requires a background in construction management or related field, plus hands-on experience with Procore and scheduling tools; a willingness to learn and mentor others is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related study, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Manager of multi‑family construction.
  • Five years of construction industry experience and three years of multi-family field experience preferred.
  • Experience with work‑processing and spreadsheet packages (Excel, Word, Bluebeam).
  • Prior experience with Web‑based Project Management software, such as Procore, preferred.
  • Prior experience or willingness to learn scheduling software (P6 or MS Project).
  • Proficient in reading construction plans and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a representative and advocate of JPI’s Culture and Guiding Principles.
  • Ensure Project Documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and addressed timely.
  • Coordinate subcontractor submittals with Field Engineer.
  • Qualify and create subcontractor change order requests for subcontractors assigned by Project Manager.
  • Assist Project Managers in the flow of information to the field teams.
  • Quantify subcontractor bids, create subcontractor initiation packets, and compose scopes of work for contracts for trades assigned by Project Manager.
  • Investigate and propose value engineering and/or innovative alternatives.
  • Ensure on-site project personnel and subcontractors are maintaining as‑built drawings and proper project documentation.
  • Train and mentor Field Engineer.
  • Fully responsible for project close out including all cost, punch list, warranty, certificates and documentation.
  • Coordinate DM/PM Meeting Agendas and Meeting Minutes with Project Manager.
  • Track statuses of RFIs and Submittals.

About this Job

The Assistant Project Manager’s role is primarily to provide support to Project Manager and field production teams as directed by Project Manager and/or Regional Construction Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative and advocate of JPI’s Culture and Guiding Principles

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in local licensing and applicable permitting
  • Assist in maintaining standardized forms and procedures for construction operation
  • Other duties may be assigned by Regional Construction Manager

  • Prefer five years of experience in the construction industry and three years of Multi Family field experience.
