Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager in Baltimore, MD, to oversee commercial construction projects, including schools, public buildings, fire stations, and hospitals. The role requires leadership across planning, procurement, scheduling, and on-site supervision for 2–14 projects with $3–5 million each.

Ideal candidates bring more than 10 years in construction and strong knowledge of project engineering, contracts, permits, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
• Study job specifications to determine appropriate methods, time, and costs.
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions with architects, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
• Schedule projects in logical steps and allocate time to meet deadlines.
• Explain plans and contract terms to field personnel and staff.
• Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with codes and regulations.
• Confer with owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues.
• Ensure long-term planning of the project is in place.
• Verify schedules and maintain quality control.
• Assist coworkers with additional tasks to support business objectives.

Essential Skills

• Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.

Work Environment

The position is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to job sites. The candidate will manage paperwork and oversee the superintendent and others on site. The office is located in a brand new facility with easy access off main highways and on-site parking. The work environment offers a small, personal feel with the opportunity to work directly with the president on larger projects.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
