Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented project support professional to assist in shipyard construction operations. The role involves documenting project progress, preparing reports, and coordinating with suppliers and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, construction experience, and strong MS Office skills. This position requires ability to read drawings, manage data, and work in a heavy industry environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Construction experience required; shipyard experience preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings; OSHA knowledge desired.

Responsibilities

• Regular attendance and flexibility, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform daily onboard ship checks to document project progress.
• Prepare and issue project status reports.
• Collect and reconcile daily time and material sheets.
• Coordinate with Payroll and Accounting to resolve discrepancies.
• Produce daily cumulative reports.
• Obtain signoffs from vessel owners and vendors.
• Track forecasts and project evaluation; maintain regulatory compliance.
• Maintain communication with suppliers.
• Request quotes for scope of supply.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies during vessel construction.
• Arrange meetings with management and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Functions

• Completion of supply requisition orders.
• Preparation and distribution of project status reports.
• Collect and compile daily time and material sheets for reconciliation.
• Work closely with the Payroll and Accounting departments to resolve reporting discrepancies.
• Produce daily cumulative reports.
• Obtain signoffs from vessel owners and vendors.
• Research and analysis functions may include tracking and forecasting, project evaluation and monitoring, maintaining compliance with government regulations, and performing any data analysis relevant to project tasks.
• Maintain communication with suppliers.
• Request quotes for scope of supply.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies during the construction of the vessel.
• Arrange virtual and in-person meetings with management, vendors, and vessel representatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalence required;construction experience required; shipyard/vessel construction experience is desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Ability to read and understand construction drawings required.basic accountingand administrativeexperienceor similar required.Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulationsis desired.

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
• Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data.
• Advanced Microsoft Office experience required, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

• This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard/construction areas.
• The employee must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with production craftsmen, management, and customer representatives.
